Firebase Dynamic Links alternative

FDL is gone. Your deep links don't have to be.

Firebase Dynamic Links shut down on 25 August 2025. SwiftURL covers the core of what teams used it for, deep links, deferred deep linking, and short links, on a branded domain you control, with privacy-first install attribution and governance included.

Why teams are replacing FDL

Google announced the deprecation of Firebase Dynamic Links back in 2023, turned the console read-only in 2024, and fully shut the service down on 25 August 2025. Existing links on page.link, app.goo.gl, and custom FDL domains no longer resolve, which breaks the deep links buried in old emails, SMS, QR codes, and app invites. Anything that depended on those links now needs a home.

SwiftURL is that home for the core FDL use case. It routes people to the right screen in your app, preserves that destination across an install with deferred deep linking, and keeps everything on a branded domain you own, rather than a shared subdomain that a vendor can retire out from under you.

SwiftURL vs Firebase Dynamic Links

FDL figures describe the service as it operated before its 25 August 2025 shutdown. SwiftURL covers the core deep-linking and short-link features, not every Firebase-console integration.

What you gain in the move

Links you own

Serve deep links and short links from your own custom domain with SSL handled for you, instead of a shared subdomain a vendor can retire.

Privacy-first attribution

Deferred deep linking matches deterministically, with no IP matching or device fingerprinting, so you keep the install signal and stay clean under GDPR and DPDP.

Analytics and governance

Click analytics by geo, device, and UTM, plus pre-publish safety checks and a tamper-evident audit log on every plan. See analytics.

Frequently asked questions

Is Firebase Dynamic Links really shut down?
Yes. Google shut down Firebase Dynamic Links on 25 August 2025. Since then, existing FDL links on page.link, app.goo.gl, and custom domains stop resolving, so teams that relied on them need a replacement.
What is a good replacement for Firebase Dynamic Links?
SwiftURL covers the core of what teams used FDL for: deep links into a specific app screen, deferred deep linking that survives an app install, and short links, now on a branded domain you control, with analytics and governance included.
Does SwiftURL do deferred deep linking like FDL did?
Yes. When someone taps a link without your app installed, they install from the store and still land on the exact screen the link pointed to. SwiftURL matches deterministically using the Play Install Referrer on Android and a user-initiated handoff on iOS, with no device fingerprinting.
Is migrating from FDL a drop-in switch?
No tool is a literal drop-in for FDL. You will point new links at your SwiftURL domain and update your app to handle SwiftURL deep links. SwiftURL gives you a clear migration path for the deep-linking and short-link features FDL provided.
Do I need an SDK to use SwiftURL deep links?
Direct deep linking uses standard iOS Universal Links and Android App Links, so no proprietary SDK is required. Deferred deep linking uses a lightweight, documented handoff via the SwiftURL API.
